In 2021, demolition started on Courthouse Shadows, a retail center in Naples, Florida. In its place, developers are moving forward with a 300-unit apartment complex, which some sources call “Courthouse Shadows Apartments.”
JDS Development Group (JDS) and Major Food Group (MFG) unveiled the first detailed renderings of Major, the highly anticipated 90-story, 1,049-foot supertall residential and hospitality skyscraper destined to rise at 888 Brickell Avenue in Miami’s financial district. Designed by William Sofield of Studio Sofield with the guidance of ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record, Major will feature 259 custom residences including one-to-four bedroom units and penthouses, approximately 115,000 square feet of amenities, and a robust collection of food and beverage offerings designed by Ken Fulk.
AHS Old Cutler is currently undergoing construction in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Contractors started working on the residential complex in Summer 2022. Upon completion, the development will offer 390 homes across eight three-story buildings.
Canopy Park, Miami Beach’s new three-acre community park situated between the 600 and 700 blocks of Alton Road and designed by ArquitectonicaGEO, is now open to the public. Park-goers can enjoy open greenspaces shaded by native tree species, pedestrian trails and bike paths, an outdoor gym and dog run, a MONSTRUM-designed children’s playground, and public art displays. Designed with sustainability in mind, Canopy Park reflects how landscape architecture can serve as a green resiliency solution for coastal communities with a host of environmentally conscious features including a Maritime Hammock, bioswales, and a 25,000-gallon cistern to conserve and manage rainwater.
Miami Springs Town Center is still undergoing construction in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The South Florida Business Journal reports that originally, developers intended to start vertical construction in early 2020. Then Covid-19 happened. Now that the project’s back on track (thanks to a $14.7 million construction loan), it’s nearing completion.
