City Furniture’s been a home improvement staple in South Florida since 1971. Now, the brand has its sights set on a new one million-square-foot warehouse and store in Plant City. The venture, standing on 11 acres, will cost $100 million to build.
According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, City Furniture’s newest location will comprise 800,000 square feet of distribution space, 208,521 square feet of retail space, and about 45,000 square feet of office space. Plans also call for a cafe measuring 5,000 square feet.
City Furniture owns the venture. It hopes that with this expansion, it’ll compete with Amazon and Wayfair by offering same-day and next-day delivery. It also wants to provide customers with a showroom that lets them view furniture before purchase.
The South Florida Business Journal notes that the project will employ at least 500 people. City Furniture purchased 100 acres in 2020. Heidt Design, LLC is the civil engineer, and ARCO National Construction-KC, Inc. is the general contractor. ECS Florida, LLC is the geothermal engineer, and Geopoint Surveying, Inc. is the surveyor.
City Furniture Warehouse and Showroom is located at 3307 South Frontage Road, Plant City, Florida, 33566, in Hillsborough County. It’s directly south of I-4.
