UHealth at SoLé Mia is preparing to open this fall within North Miami’s 184-acre master-planned community. The seven-story, 363,000-square-foot ambulatory campus will be the University of Miami’s largest outpatient medical facility, designed with patient experience and long-term quality of life at the forefront.

The center integrates biophilic and human-centric design principles, drawing inspiration from hospitality and residential architecture as well as landmark medical studies that show access to natural light and views of nature can shorten hospital stays and reduce reliance on pain medication. From its earliest planning phases, the facility was shaped to support patient wellness through its architecture, materials, and programming.

Among the notable features of UHealth at SoLé Mia are a reflection garden with views of the Atlantic Ocean and SoLé Mia’s seven-acre Crystal Lagoon, floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize daylight and regulate circadian rhythm, expansive lobby areas, calming colors, curated artwork, and green spaces for meditation. The center will also incorporate aromatherapy and live music to appeal to the senses.

Construction materials throughout the facility were selected to minimize harmful chemical emissions, while waiting and consultation rooms were designed for privacy and family accommodations. Wayfinding signage has been expanded, with benches installed along circulation paths for accessibility. Staff amenities include increased lounges, reworked layouts with accessible medication refrigerators, additional pneumatic tubes, and decentralized workstations closer to patient care areas.
Developed within SoLé Mia by LeFrak and Turnberry, the project is part of a broader movement to embed wellness principles into the built environment, creating real estate that functions not only as healthcare infrastructure but also as an extension of community health and quality of life.
