Florida YIMBY has an update regarding an affordable housing venture we covered in November 2022. Our initial report shared that Accent Daytona, located in its namesake city, was to feature 250 units in five mid-rise buildings.

Now, developer Westplan Investors is proceeding with a four-building endeavor that will feature 304 residences – a total of 306,917 square feet of apartment space. Communal amenities will include a pet spa, fitness center, and co-working space. There will also be 423 parking spots.

In addition to the residences, plans call for 3,200 square feet of office space. At the time of publication, our sources did not disclose the types of residences or their price point. The average cost of an apartment in Volusia County hovers around $1,600 a month, according to RentCafé.

Accent Daytona is slated to occupy the former site of a Baptist church that was demolished in 2019. The vacant property was purchased for $6.25 million two years later in 2021. Atlanta-based Westplan Development has many projects under the Accent banner in multiple states across the American South, including North Carolina and Georgia.

The 304-unit development’s address is 200 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL, 32114, in Volusia County.
