YIMBY Looks At The Vibrant Art Mural Installation Underway On The Podium Of The Gateway At Wynwood

The Gateway At Wynwood. Designed by Kobi Karp.

The Gateway at Wynwood, a 12-story mixed-use project located at 2916 North Miami Avenue, has reached another milestone in construction. The installation of the vibrant and artful mural previously seen in renders has begun, starting with the southern section of the garage. The building is designed by renowned Miami architect Kobi Karp and developed by R&B Realty Group, offering about 195,000 square feet of leasable Class A office space and nearly 25,900 square feet of prime street-level retail space, while sitting on the border of the Wynwood and Midtown neighborhoods.

The recent images taken of the development reveals the grandeur of the massive light blue and dark red vertical spandex aluminum panels enclosing this section of the parking garage. The first few layers of the installation feature tall vertical triangular prism-shaped lines that protrude from the paneling. As the art mural progresses northward long North Miami Avenue, the lengths and color palettes will eventually shift and change.

A closer look into the vertical triangular prisms reveals a variety of shades, shifting from light to dark tones. If the most recent renderings are accurate, the next set of panels to be installed shall be colored in black and yellow or light green.  The design and shape of the structure combined with the wrap-around art installation takes inspiration from Wynwood’s innovative spirit and modern vibe, using the building as a canvas and incorporating the exciting energy of the surrounding community.

As Miami’s skyline continues to grow and rise taller, the views from The Gateway at Wynwood will only get more and more impressive and breathtaking. The rooftop amenity space features mostly unobstructed views in all directions.

This past summer, R&B Realty Group announced the building’s first office lease with biotech company Veru Inc. The eight-year, 12,155-square-foot lease will serve as the company’s global headquarters and triple Veru’s current office space.

Plaza Construction is the general contractor for the project. CRBE is handling retail leasing, and Colliers International is marketing the office spaces.

The Gateway at Wynwood looks to be nearing completion, with construction likely wrapping up in the coming months.
