Sales have officially launched for Residences at 400 Central, an upcoming 46-story luxury condominium tower planned for 400 Central Avenue in Downtown St. Petersburg. The building is anticipated to become both the tallest in the city and near Florida’s gulf coast, rising to approximately 515-feet over the Central Arts District. Award-winning architecture firm Arquitectonica is behind the curved design of the tower, while New York City-based Red Apple Real Estate, led by John Catsimatidis, is the developer. 400 Central will yields 301 coastal-modern residential units designed by Celano Design Studio featuring clear, unobstructed views of Tampa Bay and the Downtown skyline.

400 Central is more specifically located in the heart of the Downtown area, bounded by Central Avenue N. to the north, 4th Street S. to the east, 1st Avenue S. (Pinellas Trail) to the south and 5th Street S. to the west. The development site is about four blocks west of Demens Landing and two blocks south of Williams Park. The vacant 2.3 acre lot was once home to the Pheil Hotel & Theater and Central National Bank, and were demolished in 2016. Catsimatidis purchased the land for $16.5 million, and according to St. Pete Rising, mentions of the development have occurred since then. In fact, plans for the tower had gone through numerous changes before deciding to move forward with the 46-story structure. The most recently scrapped planned proposed 20-story boutique hotel on the site in favor of adding more office, retail space, and two additional floors of non-residential parking.

“We are thrilled to begin reservations at this extraordinary new project in St. Petersburg,” says Catsimatidis. “St. Petersburg is a place where I have had family roots for more than 30 years and the future of the City is bright. We are excited to meet prospective buyers and show them the wonderful new homes in the sky that await them.”
