Uni, a 29-story tower, is undergoing construction in Miami-Dade County, Florida. First Florida Building Corporation is the general contractor. Upon completion, Uni will comprise almost 400,000 square feet of new construction, featuring 252 rental units.
NR Investments notes that the tower will also include 4,500 square feet of commercial space and 10,000 square feet of office space. It noted that contractors broke ground in 2021. Google Earth’s renderings suggest that before construction began, there were structures already present at the build site.
Omni CRA notes that this is NR Investments (the owner) first residential complex that will offer below-rate homes. The South Florida Business Journal notes that homes will comprise studios to one-bedroom apartments, ranging from 391 square feet to 674 square feet each. Uni has many goals, some of which involve addressing Florida’s affordable housing crisis and keeping workforce laborers in the area.
Zyscovich Architects designed the mixed-use tower. Based in Miami, the firm presently has more than 100 active projects, including a middle school in Jacksonville, FL.
The tower’s address is 70 Northeast 17th Street, Miami, Florida, 33136, in Miami-Dade County. The area is a designated federal Opportunity Zone. The complex is east of I-95 and north of I-395.
