East Colonial, LLC hopes to start construction on a student residential venture in April 2023. It’s called “Fifty South Student Housing.” Sources note that the complex would replace a 12,300-square-foot Golden Corral restaurant with a five-story building, offering 556 beds and a seven-story parking garage.
The venture would rest on a 3.64-acre plot, per the Orlando Business Journal. It could cost more than $226 million to complete. It’s possible that the student housing complex may offer various communal amenities, such as a fitness center.
Yet, many of its commodities reside off the property. Amenities within walking distance include a nearby strip mall with a Taco Bell, YouFit Gym, and more. Progressive Capital Group is the developer, and Kimley-Horn Orlando is the civil engineer.
At the time of publication, Fifty South Student Housing was in its planning phase. It secured rezoning approval from commercial to residential in December 2022. If the project does start construction in April 2023, it could take less than 18 months to complete, although developers have not confirmed this.
Fifty South Student Housing’s address is 11731 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32817, in Orange County. It’s a six-minute drive from the University of Central Florida.
