The Sarasota Orchestra Plans for Performing Arts Center at 5701 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, Florida

The Sarasota Orchestra recently purchased a vacant 32-acre parcel in Sarasota County. Founded in 1949, the organization hosts more than 100 concerts annually and hopes to meet the community’s growing demand for arts and culture. Now, it’s setting its sights on expanding its influence in the area.

Per the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the project will host one of four acoustic music halls in the state, featuring 1,800 seats and ceilings measuring 110 feet high. Developers are also moving forward with a 700-seat performance hall, along with various storage and rehearsal rooms. That aspect alone with require 245,000 square feet of new construction.

Developers plan to conserve 12 acres of wetlands.

The Sarasota Orchestra’s new music center does more than focus on music; it will also set aside 12 acres of wetlands for conservation purposes. This project’s been in the works for nearly 10 years. The venture’s website reports that an overwhelming number of people surveyed approved of the project and believe it will contribute to Sarasota’s cultural center.

The Sarasota Orchestra’s music center will be located at 5701 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, Florida, 34232, in Sarasota County. The center will be west of I-75 and southeast of Sarasota International Airport. It’s unclear when the venture will start and finish construction.
