After 65 years of service, Southgate Plaza met its end in 2022. Now, the 10.06-acre build site will be home to The Jack on Beach, a multifamily housing development in Jacksonville, Florida.
The complex will offer 295 units spread across three four-story buildings and two townhome units. The Florida Times-Union notes that homes will range from one-bedroom to three-bedroom layout plans. The one-bedroom units come in multiple layout plans, with some units featuring dens.
The venture will finish construction in late 2024.
Homes come with thermofoil cabinetry, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Sources note that there will be more than 13,000 square feet of amenities, including a 1,620-square-foot fitness and yoga center. Other offerings include a lounge, remote working spaces, and game room. The entire venture will cost $50 million to complete.
The market-rate apartments will finish construction in the third quarter of 2024. The general contractor broke ground in fall 2022. Chance Partners and EJF Capital are the owners. This is the joint venture’s fourth project in Jacksonville’s St. Nicholas’ neighborhood.
The venture will replace this plaza.
