Conceptual plans for Citadel’s new supertall tower in Brickell have been revealed, marking a significant addition to Miami’s ever-evolving skyline. The tower, set to rise 1,032 feet above sea level at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive, is the first phase of a multi-phase development that aims to reshape the landscape of Miami’s bustling financial district.
The property is approximately 4.17 acres (181,645 square feet) in size. The portion of the property comprised of the 1201 Brickell Bay Drive parcel is located across the Brickell Bay Drive right-of-way from the remainder of the property, which comprises 1221 Brickell Avenue and 1250-1260 Brickell Bay Drive. The 1201 and 1250-1260 Brickell Bay Drive parcels are currently vacant, while the 1221 Brickell Avenue parcel is presently improved with an office building constructed in the 1980s.
Designed by Foster + Partners, with AAI Architects, P.C. serving as the architect of record, the 54-story tower will include approximately 1.29 million square feet of premium office space and 212 luxurious hotel rooms. The development will feature a state-of-the-art health spa, a fully-equipped fitness club, a grand ballroom, and versatile conference and event spaces, enhancing its appeal as a destination for business and social gatherings.
The project is a collaboration of several renowned firms: Thornton Tomasetti provides structural engineering and resiliency consultancy. Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. handles civil and traffic engineering. Cosentini Associates leads MEPFP engineering (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection). Langan oversees geotechnical engineering. Field Operations is the landscape architect.
The first phase of this project underscores Citadel’s commitment to expanding its presence in Miami and solidifies Brickell’s position as a thriving hub for business and innovation. Future phases at 1221 Brickell Avenue and 1250-1260 Brickell Bay Drive are expected to include a mix of office spaces, retail outlets, culinary offerings, and residential units, further contributing to the dynamic growth of this key area in Miami.

It looks like a 21st Century citadel. Simple, but refined. Meets the ground elegantly (with no visible parking podiums, yea!). It’s a modern version of a classic column with a defined bottom, middle and top. Love the crown. If executed well, it will be a great addition to the Miami skyline
This building is going to be an eyesore that dominates the skyline. Tall is great but not if it is a blight to the surrounding area.
That top looks like a huge rectangular mushroom….a bit weird. Just doesn’t look right, should be redesigned.

Now that’s a design that will define Miami’s skyline going forward. Love it.
