Mirasol Apartments Could Be Redeveloped Back into Hotel at 84 Davis Boulevard, Tampa, FL

The historic Mirasol Hotel on Davis Islands has a storied history.

First, the Mediterranean-style hotel opened in 1926 to serve Florida’s blossoming tourist industry. Thirty-six years later in 1962, the hotel was converted into apartments, currently hosting 58 one-bedroom homes measuring 650 square feet. Now, another chapter is about to unfold for Mirasol as developers intend to move forward with converting the residential community back into a hotel.

Sources indicate that developers have filed a rezoning request that would allow for the addition of two low-rise wings that would feature condos and additional hotel rooms. Part of the redevelopment also includes adding 117 covered parking spots, new elevators, and reinforcing the building’s infrastructure.

Mirasol Hotel would also feature luxury amenities that reference those originally offered in the 1920s, including a rooftop lounge with panoramic views and a restaurant. Guests would also have access to “many modern-day features and services such as a full-service spa and wellness programs, a tranquil pool, and concierge service.”

Still in its infancy, Mirasol’s redevelopment doesn’t have a concrete timeline. Developers also haven’t disclosed how much they have invested in the project but reassure the public that no taxpayer dollars have funded the venture.

The redevelopment comes from claims that, in its current state, Mirasol Apartments is not sustainable and, because of hurricane damage, requires repairs that would need tenants to relocate. The venture is located at 84 Davis Boulevard, Tampa, FL, 33606, in Hillsborough County.
