PulteGroup, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, officially broke ground yesterday, July 17, on The Cottage District, a new standalone workforce housing community in partnership with the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The development is located within the Heart of Boynton District, just north of downtown Boynton Beach.

The 4.5-acre site will yield 41 residences, including 19 single-family homes and 22 townhomes, aimed at serving moderate- and low-income households. Local officials gathered Wednesday morning for a presentation and a tour of one of the homes currently under construction.

“The Cottage District delivers much-needed, high-quality housing that is attainable for the local workforce — including first responders, teachers, health care professionals, government workers and others who serve our community,” said Brent Baker, PulteGroup’s Southeast Florida Division President. “This will be our fourth workforce housing community in Palm Beach County in recent years, and the unique neighborhood further strengthens our relationship with local municipalities to address specific community needs.”

Located along Seacrest Boulevard between Northeast Fourth and Fifth Avenues, with Northeast First Street along the rear boundary, the site was acquired by PulteGroup from the Boynton Beach CRA in December 2024. Site development approvals were granted in February.
Designed to be walkable and community-oriented, the neighborhood will include five-foot-wide sidewalks, abundant street lighting, and a small public park, with connections to adjacent neighborhoods. The development is part of a targeted effort by the CRA to address local housing needs.

“Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home. The Cottage District project represents not just bricks and mortar, but our commitment to opportunity and a brighter future for all residents,” said Boynton Beach Mayor Rebecca Shelton, who also serves as Chair of the Boynton Beach CRA Board. “We look forward to celebrating 41 families who will soon call this home.”

Pricing is currently set at $301,860 for the single-family homes and $234,780 for the townhomes. Buyers must meet household income requirements and be pre-qualified by the Palm Beach County Department of Housing and Economic Stability. A minimum contribution toward the sales price is also required. Sales are expected to begin in October.
Due to high demand, only those with an official workforce housing certificate from Palm Beach County will be eligible to enter a lottery for purchasing one of the homes.
