Two Affordable Housing Projects Undergo Construction in Sarasota, FL

Construction has started on two affordable housing projects in Sarasota, both of which mark the second phase of their respective developments. Upon completion, the pair will deliver 208 units. Here’s what’s in store.

Cypress Square II will expand on the already-existing Cypress Square, which opened in 2024 and currently offers 84 units in three stories. The second phase will comprise 108 affordable housing units, 33 of which will be available to residents with Section 8 vouchers.

Residences will include one-bedroom to three-bedroom layout plans, and construction is anticipated to end in mid-2026. The Observer reports that a future third phase (coined Cypress Square III) could bring the community’s total number of residences to 253. Sebring-based Marmer Construction is the general contractor.

Lofts on Lemon II will expand on the already-built Lofts on Lemon I, which hosts 128 units in five stories. The second phase will yield 100 one-bedroom homes, 25 of which will be deemed Section 8 housing. Construction is anticipated to end in the fourth quarter of 2026. JP Wiseman Construction is the general contractor.

Lofts on Lemon II will be situated at 851 N. Lemon Ave. Sarasota, FL, 34234, in Sarasota County.

Cypress Square II will be located less than two miles away at 1672 21st Street, Sarasota, Florida, 34234, in Sarasota County.
