Pompano Beach DRC to Review ‘Atlantico’ at 2233 E. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, Florida

Pompano Beach’s Development Review Committee intends to review plans for a mid-rise multi-family housing development on Wednesday. If approved, the community would replace a row of storefronts that currently host two locally owned restaurants and commercial space.

Plans for Atlantico call for an eight-story building on a half-acre lot. Upon completion, the development would comprise 75 residences. While plans are still in their infancy, the developer hopes to move forward with studios or small one-bedroom apartments. In addition to the homes, there would also be close to 3,150 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Sources report that the site has a Transit Oriented/East Atlantic Overlay District zoning designation, so both residential and commercial components are possible. Additionally, the developer is seeking other incentives to ensure it can move forward with the maximum allowable units. Planw3st is representing the property owner. Austin Fox Architecture is the architect.

Pompano Beach has many developments in the works, one of which is Modera Pompano Beach, a project Florida YIMBY covered in October. The project would measure eight stories and comprise 347 residences.

If approved, Atlantico would occupy 2217, 2219, and 2233 E. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, Florida, 33062, in Broward County.

  1. Maybe it would be a solid infill building along Dixie Highway or some side street, but for such a prominent location, it’s rather underwhelming. The blank walls on the low-rise retail portion makes it look like it has “missing teeth,” and could use some classical styling to accentuate the McNab House across East Atlantic Boulevard.
