Aventura-based H&M Development intends to redevelop part of the Bonaventure Golf Club into senior living – pending approval from Weston’s City Commission.

On May 4th, the Commission will vote whether to rezone 13.4 acres of the 180-acre golf course from “irregular residential (five)” and “golf course” to “irregular residential (28.44)”  and “multi-family.”

If the rezoning approval is granted, H&M Development would proceed with a two-phase development. The first would comprise 163 senior living units in five stories; here, residents would have access to resort-style amenities, such as a swimming pool. The second phase would feature even more exclusivity. MSA Architects designed the venture.

H&M Development has the build sites in question under contract from the golf course’s current owner, CG Golf Venture LLC. The former intends to spend more than $150 million to make the project possible, with $10 million earmarked for golf course improvements.

This two-phase venture follows a larger trend of developing golf courses into housing communities. In March, Florida YIMBY shared a project that involved redeveloping the now-closed Falls Country Club golf course in Greenacres. At the time of publication, GL Homes was seeking approval for 800 units: 500 single-family homes and 300 apartments.

H&M Development’s newest venture concerns 200 Bonaventure Blvd, Weston, FL, 33326, in Broward County.
