Construction has started on an expansive residential community that will feature close to 4,000 homes in Hernando County. Upon completion, Sunrise Hills will occupy 1,100 acres and host a 2.5-acre sand-bottom lagoon and miles of walking trails.

DRB Homes, D.R. Horton, and Lennar are the three homebuilders behind the venture. At the time of publication, Sunrise Hills’ website did not reveal specifics regarding the homes’ sizes; however, it did share that homes will come with pre-installed smart home technology that will allow residents to wirelessly control their homes’ temperature, lighting, and security settings.

In addition to the lagoon and trails, Sunrise Hills is slated to feature a host of amenities centered on health and wellness. Metro Development is leading the project. Via a press release, Florida YIMBY learned that the firm is also behind Sandal Key, another venture in Hernando County. That project is anticipated to break ground in December and host more than 3,000 homes.

Sunrise Hills intends to “reflect the character of Brooksville” by sporting architectural features that recall the city’s cultural heritage, such as a silo that marks the community’s entry. It is currently unfolding at Sunrise Hills Boulevard and Moonlit Path Road, Brooksville, FL, 34602, in Hernando County.
