In 2021, the South Florida Business Journal reported that the owners of the Homestead-Miami Speedway had sold about 34 acres of its property to Amazon. Once billed as one of the biggest Amazon Fulfillment Centers in South Florida, the $43.4 million warehouse could near completion by the end of this year––or even sooner.
The facility will comprise more than one million square feet, and Amazon is acting as the owner and general contractor on the venture. The facility will primarily specialize in processing and delivering large items, such as kayaks, bicycles, furniture, and sporting goods.

Upon completion, the center will create hundreds of jobs for both full- and part-time employees. According to a 2021 report by Business Insider, one out of every 153 people works for Amazon, making it one of the largest employers in the U.S. Steven Losner, the mayor of Homestead, told reporters that he was especially excited about the new distribution center since it would create both jobs and tax revenue for the city.

This isn’t the only Amazon Fulfilment Center in the area. The Key West Citizen notes that there are three other facilities in Kendall, Fort Lauderdale, and Miramar. Homestead’s Amazon Distribution Warehouse’s address is 3750 Palm Drive, Homestead, Florida, 33030, in Miami-Dade County.

This is what Homestead really needed. Housing development has expanded in high rapid numbers and so have retail stores, restaurants and other businesses. I’m elated that this space has been chosen for an extremely purposeful business that benefits in personal and professional usage. I believe this facility will bring an enormous amount of sales benefiting both consumers and Amazon. This facility is located in a perfect area that will allow both safe and easy routes for drivers and the demand for rapid deliveries. As a born and raised local resident I look forward to watching this facility prosper.
