Construction has started on CentroCity, a mixed-use development in Miami, Florida. The venture will renovate the area’s Central Shopping Plaza and offer 1,188 apartments on a 39-acre plot. Plans also call for a charter school anchored by a Target, Walgreens, and Fresco Mas, according to Terra Group. The Next Miami reports that plans also call for more than 3,100 parking spots and 250,000 square feet of class-A office space.
CentroCity will comprise nearly 320,000 square feet of retail stores, with 19,100 commuters passing by each day. The Target itself measures 77,000 square feet. The general contractor broke ground in August 2022. CentroCity will reach completion in phases, with the first phase offering 460 garden-style apartments. The first phase’s homes will be spread across three eight-story buildings. The venture’s estimated to cost $230 million to complete.
Sources report that Arquitectonica designed the residential aspect. RSP Architects designed the retail redevelopment aspect. Conceptual renderings show that CentroCity is a pedestrian-friendly community located near West Little Havana’s various amenities. The community itself is right across the street from the Magic City Casino. Terra Group and CSP Mixed Use Communities, LLC are spearheading the venture.
CentroCity’s address is 3825 Northwest 7th Street, Miami, Florida, 33126, in Miami-Dade County.
