YIMBY recently stopped by The Tampa EDITION Hotel & Residence, a 27-story mixed-use building at the recently completed first phase of Strategic Property Partners‘ 56-contiguous-acre Water Street Tampa mixed-use development, addressed as 500 Channelside Drive (Hotel) and 1000 Water Street (Residence). The project was designed by Morris Adjmi Architects alongside Nichols Architects as the architect of record and contains 38 luxury residences and a 5-star, 172-key hotel with interiors appointed and curated by Roman and Williams via Ian Schrager’s EDITION luxury lifestyle brand. Suffolk Construction served as the general contractor for the 319-foot-tall tower, which completed construction earlier this year.

Recent photos show the complete development, which is defined by a vertical 17-story tower anchored by a 10-story podium that combines industrial elements with Art Deco-inspired curves. The hotel component is located within the base of the building, which features a mostly uniform white stucco grid of rectangular and square-shaped windows sealed in glass and gray aluminum frames. The residential upper half follows a similar design language, but factors in generous wrap-around balconies throughout all of the condo units.

Multiple aerial views reveal the outdoor amenity spaces which include a landscaped pool deck fully equipped with cabanas and lounge chairs atop the hotel, and an amenity terrace on the 5th floor that cuts into the structure along the northern elevation, across from the parking garage shared with The Asher Residences.

Condo units have spacious private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the units with natural unobstructed light and offer panoramic views of Tampa Bay and the downtown skyline.

The building is ornamented with several EDITION logos, seen in the image below on the top left-hand corner of the western podium elevation and on the bottom right just above the ground floor.

More EDITION branding is seen beneath the amenity level and hotel level on the top right side of the southern elevation.

The Tampa EDITION is surrounded by a number of other developments within Water Street Tampa and attractions, including Thousand & One, The Heron, The Asher Residences, and the Amalie Arena. The building is bound by Channelside Drive on the south, Water Street on the east, South Nebraska Avenue on the west, and Ellamae Court on the north.

The manner in which the slabs are layered and slightly offset makes for a unique form and aesthetic that’s unique to this building in Water Street Tampa.

Guests and residents will enjoy seven world-class in-house dining and beverage outlets, including two restaurants overseen by award-winning chefs. A full suite of dedicated services and amenities including a residents-only gym, social kitchen and lounge, and an on-premises lifestyle manager.

The Tampa EDITION Hotel officially opened on October 25, while the 38 residences sold out earlier this year.
