Palm Lake Christian Church has big plans for an empty plot of land on its site in Pinellas County, Florida. Its newest venture, estimated at $27.25 million, will offer 72 affordable housing units. St. Pete Rising notes that homes will range from one-bedroom to two-bedroom units. They will be housed in a concrete-and-block building measuring three stories.
The Tampa Business Journal notes that plans also call for 14 garden cottages. They will range from one-bedroom to two-bedroom units, centered around a community garden. Sources note that these homes will rest on the Palm Lake Christian Church’s 8.32-acre lot, with construction expected to start in August 2023. The homes will meet LEED energy-efficient requirements.

As noted, this will be an affordable housing development intended for disabled, homeless, and near-homeless individuals. Seventy-two units are for those making 60 percent of the area median income, while another 14 are for those making 120 percent of the area median income. The remaining are for those “who would otherwise be homeless.”
Communal amenities include electric vehicle charging stations, native Florida landscaping, 63 parking spots, and eight bicycle parking spots. OutsideIn Architecture LLC is the architect. It shared conceptual renderings online, showing a low-rise garden-style community.
