In fall 2023, Palm Beach Atlantic University welcomed its largest incoming class—a record 3,800 students in its 55-year history. Now, to accommodate the Christian university’s growing size, it has plans for a 25-story dormitory.

The South Florida Business Journal reports that the addition would require 358,400 square feet of new construction, replacing a 3,852-square-foot building that’s already on the 1.71-acre site. Upon completion, the venture would yield 275 rooms: 44 two-bedroom, 22 three-bedroom, and 209 four-bedroom layouts.

Additionally, plans call for 15,500 square feet of dining space on the tower’s bottom two floors and a 14,600-square-foot fitness center on the third floor. Students would park in the 11-story parking garage, which would host 906 parking spots. The parking garage is unique in that it offers more than a place for cars; it also will feature 4,300 square feet of ground-floor office space.

Involved parties on the 25-story dorm include Cube3, the architect, and Urban Design Studio, the planning firm. If all goes accordingly, the venture will allow Palm Beach Atlantic University to expand future incoming classes by 1,200 students.

West Palm Beach city officials will consider the development on August 8th. It’s been proposed for the site of 1200 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL, 33401, in Palm Beach County.

  1. Wow, that’s ugly even by dormitory standards… PBA tends to build nice buildings, too. Should this be built per the rendering, it will stick out like a sore thumb (or rather middle finger) across the street from a cemetery and low-rise established residential neighborhood.
