Permits have been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for work on a supertall tower at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive in Brickell, intended to house Citadel’s new headquarters. According to the FAA application, the proposed building would rise to 1,046 feet above ground, or 1,049 feet above sea level, securing its place among the city’s tallest planned structures. The financial giant acquired the 2.5-acre development site, bound by SE 12th Street in the north and Biscayne Bay on the east, in a $363 million transaction in April 2022, marking one of Miami’s largest real estate deals.

The FAA received the applications on October 24, the same day a Miami-Dade zoning review memo highlighted that approvals from the FAA and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department are required for the project to proceed.

County filings reveal that the 55-story Citadel tower will yield around 1,293,373 square feet of office space, complemented by a 212-room hotel, health spa, fitness club, ballroom, conference rooms, and 23,590 square feet for retail or dining. Plans also include 50 underground parking spaces to support the development’s mixed-use nature.

Public transit access is convenient, with the Brickell Metrorail and Metromover stations a short walk away.
