Grover Corlew has officially broken ground on Mayla Cypress, a 312-unit luxury multifamily development located at 6261 NW 6th Way in Fort Lauderdale’s Uptown Urban Village. The seven-story project is rising within the Cypress Creek business corridor on a 3.71-acre site formerly occupied by an underutilized office building.

The groundbreaking follows the recent closing of a $92 million construction loan arranged by Berkadia. Mayla Cypress is the second residential development under Grover Corlew’s Mayla brand, following the successful completion of Mayla Pompano in 2024. Leasing is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with full completion anticipated in early 2027.

“We’re proud to bring Mayla Cypress to life in a neighborhood that’s poised for transformation,” said Anuj Grover, Partner at Grover Corlew. “With the city’s support for mixed-use zoning, the area is evolving into Fort Lauderdale’s next vibrant destination, a walkable, transit-oriented district that blends residential, commercial and lifestyle spaces. Mayla Cypress will provide upscale living for professionals who want to stay connected to where they work and play.”

Designed by MSA Architects, the development will feature a comprehensive amenity package, including a resort-style swimming pool with cabanas, outdoor kitchens and grilling areas, a clubhouse and billiards lounge, a two-story 24/7 fitness center with a cardio mezzanine and yoga room, coworking and conference rooms, a dog spa, secure package rooms, and a sundry store. The property will also include 586 shared parking spaces, with access for employees of the neighboring Citrix office building. Straticon is serving as the general contractor.

“This neighborhood is experiencing a resurgence,” said Mark Corlew, Partner at Grover Corlew. “With the Uptown area’s access to major transportation corridors, employers and lifestyle amenities, Mayla Cypress will offer a modern residential option that enhances livability and connectivity.”

The project aligns with Fort Lauderdale’s vision for the Uptown Urban Village, an emerging submarket near the Cypress Creek Tri-Rail Station and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The area is being reimagined as a dense, walkable district with expanded residential offerings.

Looking ahead, Grover Corlew is planning additional Mayla communities across South and Central Florida. A new project is in the works for Delray Beach, and the company is exploring residential opportunities in Orlando, where it owns the 46-acre Orlando Central office park near Baldwin Park.
