The Sound Apartments, an eight-story mixed-use project in Palm Beach County, has topped out. The development will span 675,000 square feet of new construction, comprising retail and residential space.

Plans call for 358 residences, 25 percent of which (90) will be designated as workforce housing. Palm Beach County defines workforce housing as accommodations aimed at residents earning 60 to 140 percent of the area median income (AMI). County records report that the median income was $104,000 as of 2024.  The homes will span studio to three-bedroom flats.

BLDUP reports that the Sound Apartments intends to “merge luxury living with amenity-rich community design.” As such, the venture will offer a resort-style swimming pool, sky lounge, and co-working space. There will also be a waterfront aspect with canoe and kayak launches. Aside from the residential element, the Sound will feature 19,000 square feet of retail, 15,000 square feet of which will be occupied by a grocery store.

Verdex Construction first broke ground on the Sound Apartments in December 2024. The first move-ins are planned for the third quarter of 2026, with the entire project slated for completion in that year’s fourth quarter. Spina O’Rourke + Partners is the architect.

The Sound Apartments is planned for 8111 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida, 33405, in Palm Beach County.

  1. Maybe on some backstreet in Lake Worth Beach or infill, this development would be acceptable… but how bland looking for the gateway to West Palm Beach!
