Cameron Cove apartments in Davie could see an expansion that would increase the number of residences by 32 percent. Constructed in the mid-1980s, the multi-family development currently hosts 221 homes; yet, pending approval from the city’s Planning & Zoning Board, the venture would see 72 new two-bedroom residences.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, developer Sunpointe Cove LLC (an affiliate of New York-based Nuveen) wants to fill the community’s pond with two three-story buildings. Residents at the expanded Cameron Cove would have access to more than 3,000 square feet of amenities, including a resort-style swimming pool and 2,763-square-foot clubhouse. Nuveen purchased Cameron Cove for $12.75 million in 2002.

MSA Architects designed the 72-unit expansion. The Miami-based firm also designed The Residences at Bayview, a venture Florida YIMBY covered in late 2025. Current plans call for an eight-story building measuring 81 feet tall; it would feature 259 residences, a few of which would be designated as affordable housing rentals.

Cameron Cove’s expansion is following a larger trend of in-fill projects in Broward County. Bullish development has left few vacant parcels in the region, causing developers to seek creative solutions to build new projects. Cameron Cove is located at 2571 SW 79th Avenue, Davie, Florida, 33324, in Broward County.
