Developer Atlantic Pacific Companies has plans for an affordable housing project. The venture would be part of the multi-million-dollar renovation of the Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts, a 6-12 magnet school.
The residential aspect would yield 364 apartments in three stories, totaling about 255,000 square feet of new construction. Communal amenities would feature a swimming pool and clubhouse; there would also be 530 parking spots, averaging to about 1.46 per unit. The 364 apartments would occupy 10.3 acres of the Conservatory’s 28.1-acre site.
As noted, the affordable housing venture is part of the larger Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts redevelopment project. Miami-Dade County Public Schools explains that the project intends to combine the Conservatory’s campus with Pine Villa Elementary’s campus.
The venture is an $85 million investment that involves demolishing 13 buildings on the Conservatory’s campus and retrofitting 15 buildings on Pine Hills’ campus; there are also plans for a 700-seat auditorium. Completion is planned for summer 2029. James B. Pirtle Construction Co. and Silva Architects are part of the development team.
Atlantic Pacific Companies’ project is in its beginning stages, having just filed a pre-application last week. Its homes would be located at 11370 S.W. 216th St., Miami, Florida, 33170, in Miami-Dade County.
