Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside has plans for an affordable housing development in St. Pete. The venture is named for the now-demolished St. Bede Episcopal Church, which was constructed in 1952 and later demolished in 2023.
St. Bede’s is slated to feature 14 single-family homes, averaging about 1,500 square feet each. St. Pete Rising reports that floorplans would primarily include two-bedroom and three-bedroom layouts and feature one- and two-car garages.

Future residents at St. Bede’s (along with all homes constructed by Habitat for Humanity) must earn between 30 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). St. Petersburg’s median income was $75,192 as of the last U.S Census. Habitat plans to connect with future homeowners through local Episcopal churches.
Initially, Habitat for Humanity wanted to proceed with a townhome development that would yield 39 units; however, plans changed following further research and community feedback. The non-profit organization purchased the project’s two-acre property for $1.4 million in 2025. The Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida was the seller.
Construction is anticipated to start on St. Bede’s in 2027, pending approval from the City of St. Petersburg. St. Bede’s is planned for 2500 16th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33704, in Pinellas County.
