A much-anticipated Margaritaville is coming soon to Fort Myers Beach, FL. The four-story resort will require 281,000 square feet of new construction and include 254 units. Construction broke ground in August 2021 and ideally will conclude by summer 2023, per the News Press.
The project has met a series of delays, all of which owner TPI Hospitality has overcome. First, Margaritaville faced a lawsuit, with residents claiming that the resort would overpopulate the area. The lawsuit was later dropped. Then, the Covid-19 pandemic delayed the project further. However, Fort Myers Beach city officials broke ground on August 13, 2021––the 17th anniversary of Hurricane Charley.
The resort will have a 22,000 square foot “License to Chill Terrace,” which also features a “License to Chill Bar.” Restaurants will include Fins Up!, 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, and Beach Club. Visitors can also enjoy on-site amenities such as pools, communal areas, and lounges. In total, it will have six acres of commercial space, per the Ft. Myers Beach Observer.
The Construction Journal reports that the project requires over $10 million to build. Margaritaville will be located at 1160 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL, 33931. It will be located in Lee County. In terms of proximity, it will be 15 minutes north of Lovers Key State Park.
