A new mixed-use retail/residential building is coming to Miami, FL. Morningside Place is a three-story building that in total comprises over 51,000 square feet of new construction. The ground floor alone will contain 9,372 square feet of retail space. The project’s been in the works since 2012.
The second and third floors will contain 25 residential units that run anywhere from 586 to 1,590 square feet each. Residents can also enjoy the rooftop deck, fitness area, conference room, and parking lot with 46 spaces.
The South Florida Business Journal notes that Morningside Place will be constructed in the MiMo (Miami Modern) architectural style. This movement mixes tropical influence with post-World War II art deco and a dash of whimsy, per the Miami Design Preservation League.
The Construction Journal reports that Morningside Place is presently “seeking site plan approvals.” The project met a delay in September 2020, but now, it seems like everything is back on track. It’s owned by Rosa 55 Morningside LLC. This is the organization’s only active project. Prospective bidders include All Star Flooring and Banner Supply Company.
Morningside Place is located at 5445 and 5501 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL, in Miami-Dade County. In terms of proximity, it’s west of Morningside Park and northeast of I-195.
