40-Story ‘Santander Tower’ Planned For 1401 Brickell Avenue In Miami’s Financial District

On February 21, Miami’s Urban Development Review Board is scheduled to review the filed plans for Santander Tower, a visionary project at 1401 Brickell Avenue in the Brickell financial district. This 40-story office building, targeting LEED Platinum certification, is designed to redefine Miami’s skyline and urban experience. The development, designed by Handel Architects from New York with structural engineering by DeSimone Consulting Engineers and interior design by Bernardi + Peschard Arquitectos, aims to introduce 612,918 square feet of premium Class A office space. Developed by Services and Promotions LLC, an affiliate of Santander Bank, with project management and advisement by the Rilea Group, the tower aspires to a commanding presence at 765 feet above ground and 778 feet above sea level. Its redevelopment plan includes office spaces and extensive retail and food/beverage activation areas across the ground and upper podium levels, emphasizing ground-level engagement and vibrant streetscapes. Cosentini Associates is the MEPFP engineer, Langan is the civil and geotechnical engineer, Rios is the landscape architect with LandDesign as the landscape architect of record, and Socotec is the building envelope consultant.

JDS Development Seeks General Site Development Plan Approval From County Planners For 81-Story Mixed-Use Supertall 888 Brickell

Miami-Dade County’s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources will consider the general site development plan resubmitted for 888, an 81-story supertall mixed-use skyscraper propped for 888 Brickell Avenue in the heart of Miami’s Brickell Financial District. Designed by Studio Sofield with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record and solely developed by Michael Stern’s JDS Development Group, the 1,048-foot-tall structure is planned to provide 1,178,568 square feet of space including 259 residential units, 52,144 square feet of health/fitness, 38,727 square feet of food and beverage, and 273 parking spaces operated by a valet. The application is pursuant to Section 33C-15 of the County Code of Ordinances for the Property, filed on October 4, 2022.

JDS Development Group Submits 1,049-Foot Supertall Skyscraper ‘Major’ To The FAA

Major, another supertall skyscraper of mixed-uses planned to rise in the heart of Miami’s financial district, has been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for review. The developers, JDS Development Group and Major Food Group, hope to attain building permits to develop an 82-story, 1,049-foot-tall tower at 888 Brickell Avenue – a 0.52-acre site on the northwest corner of the intersection with Southeast 10th Street currently improved with a 7-story, 50-year-old office building. An elite team of designers and engineers has been assembled for the project, which includes New York-based Studio Sofield along with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record; Desimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer and MG Engineering is the MEP engineer; SLS is the code consultant and Kimley-Horn the landscape architect and civil engineer; Lerch Bates will handle vertical transportation and Walker Parking as the parking consultant; Socotec Consulting Inc. will oversee all enclosures, waterproofing and roofing.
