The City of Sunrise, home to Sawgrass Mills Mall, is expecting a new city hall. The current structure, which is a stark contrast to the updated buildings around it, will be demolished sometime within the next year. The new 100,000 square foot facility will serve as office space for city employees, utility offices, and local politicians.
Per Sunrise’s public records, the project was supposed to reach completion in March 2021. However, while the area is roped off, the building is still standing. The project is estimated to cost around $73 million.
The design consultant on the project is Song & Associates, an architectural design firm based out of Palm Beach. According to the conceptual renderings, the multi-story city hall will be in the contemporary style, sporting large windows and a futuristic skyline.
In addition to a new city hall, the project will also include a new water playground, amphitheater, and roof canopy. If all goes according to plan, the structures will be outfitted with solar panels.
While the project is still in its design phase, Stiles Construction will be handling the building process. The Fort Lauderdale-based company was responsible for the Galleria Plaza, Village Tower Shops, and Sunrise Corporate Plaza.
The development’s physical address is 10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise, FL, 33351. It is located in Broward County, FL.
