To many Floridians and out-of-state visitors alike, Cocoa Beach is a sunny, tropical vacation spot––and that’s certainly not changing any time soon, as a $250 million redevelopment venture is underway.
Owned by Driftwood Acquisitions and Development, plans are in the works for “The Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa.” This required demolishing some aspects of the already-existing International Palms Resort & Conference Center.
There are multiple benefits to this project’s construction. According to Space Coast Daily, the venture will create 800 jobs in the area. The hotel/spa will comprise 800,000 square feet of new construction, featuring basketball courts, cabanas, and swimming pools. The 13-acre lot will soon be home to 502 hotel rooms.
The development will rise 6 feet above grade. Of the 800,000 square feet of new construction, the parking garage will comprise 250,000 square feet, and the convention center will comprise 55,000 square feet. The hotel/spa will also feature 40,000 square feet of retail.
The Construction Journal reports that the project has been pending since 2019. Space Coast Daily reports that if all goes well, the Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa will open for business in 2024. The venture’s physical address is 1300 North Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach, FL, 32931. It will be located in Brevard County.
