After serving patrons for 27 years, River City Brewing Company will cease operations on July 18, 2021. Yet, for fans of the brewery, there’s something of a silver lining; in 2025, the former restaurant will be home to RD River City Brewery Apartments, a $92 million residential venture in Jacksonville, FL. The Construction Journal reports that the building’s conception has been in the works since October 2020.
Related Group of Florida, which is based out of Miami, bought out the restaurant’s lease, which had another 77 years on it, according to the Jacksonville Observer. While the project is still in the “conceptual design phase,” multiple renderings are available online. The eight-story building will comprise 335 residential units and 500 parking spots.

Amenities include waterfront lounges, fire pits, and other communal areas. At the time of publication, we did not know the price of rent for the units. However, based on data from DataUSA, St. Johns County has a median household income of $77,323. We can expect the building’s rent to fall somewhat into these parameters.
RD River City Brewery Apartments’ physical location is 835 Museum Circle, Jacksonville, FL, 32207. In terms of relative proximity, it is a short walk away from the Friendship Fountain, which Google calls “one of Jacksonville’s most recognizable and popular attractions.”
