An application has been filed in search of approvals for a massive mixed-use development in the Glenvar Heights section of Miami-Dade County. The project is titled Christ Journey Church and The Estates at Sunset, and encompasses 19.43 acres of land which is approximately 846,000 gross square feet. Plans call for the construction of a 45,207-square-foot religious facility including a day nursery for up to 98 children and ancillary uses on the 6.13-acre church parcel, and 26 single-family homes on the 13.12-acre residential parcel. The project is designed by Studio MC+G Architecture and developed by CC Devco Homes, LLC and land owner The University Baptist Church of Coral Gables, Inc.
The property is located along the southern side of Southwest 72nd Street between Southwest 72nd Court and an unbuilt extension of Southwest 74th Street. The undeveloped land sits just north of Trinity Pineland County Park and just a few blocks east of the Palmetto Expressway. Glenvar Heights is east of the City of South Miami.
