Exterior work is continuing to progress on 1050 Water Street, a 22-story mixed-use building within the 56-acre, $3.5 billion Water Street Tampa mega-development. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record, and developed by Strategic Property Partners, the structure rises to 273-feet and will yield approximately 787,808-square-feet of space at completion which includes 511 residential units in a mix of studio – two-bedroom layouts, as well as 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Recent photo show the substantial progress that has been made on the exterior of the concrete superstructure since YIMBY last visited the site in April 2021. Most of the industrial-styled grid form glass windows have been installed and some of the concrete walls are just now receiving the sealant and waterproofing treatment while other elevations are further ahead in the process.

On the southern elevation, the industrial-styled windows have already been framed, strongly resembling a picture-frame. If the current renderings are accurate, the framing will be painted grey while the walls in between while be a light grey or white stucco. The concrete balcony slabs have yet to be enclosed in any aluminum guard rails or glass.

The image below towards the bottom right hand side shows what the facade of the structure overall will generally look like when complete. There are white vertical and horizontal lines running across the elevations in between the darker grey frames.

The parking garage, which will serve both 1050 Water Street and the Tampa EDITION at 1000 Water Street, has been enclosed with a mesh material with white aluminum framing, seen in the image below.

Several hoist elevators remain attached to the structure to transport materials and construction workers.

Below is an even more detailed view of what the general aesthetic of the façade will look like, which has a strong resemblance to the areas industrial past.

“With a focus on creating an environment that promotes opportunities for social interaction between residents, 1050 Water Street offers a curated collection of shared amenity spaces— complete with a rooftop pool and lawn, individual outdoor kitchens and an indoor-outdoor bar. Adjoining and overlooking the rooftop terrace will be an expansive fitness facility, entertainment spaces, a movie room and a co-working space.”

1050 Water Street may still be a tentative name for the project, as the neighboring residential buildings within the development have all been renamed – 815 Water Street named Heron, 1011 E Cumberland Avenue named Cora – so there is the possibility of a new name for marketing purposes. The project appears to be on track for completion some time in 2022
