“Collins Avenue Hotel Redevelopment” is a mixed-use residential and commercial enterprise. Though it’s been in the making since 2020, it has been delayed after reaching its “bids by invitation” phase. The Construction Journal reports that the $300 million project seeks to provide both housing and entertainment for those living in Miami, FL.
The South Florida Business Journal notes that two-thirds of the Richmond Hotel and the South Seas Hotel will be partially demolished to allow for new construction. After demolition, Richmond Hotel will only have 10 rooms, while South Seas will have 11.
The venture will feature a three-story pavilion for food and drinks
The new build site will feature an 18-story apartment building with 96 units. Most of the Richmond Hotel’s interior will be allotted as restaurant space, capable of serving 60 people at a time.
A three-story “food and beverage pavilion” will be located on the property’s oceanside, capable of hosting 103 patrons. The ground floor will serve food and drinks, while the two upper floors will feature additional seating.
The project will require partially demolishing two Art Deco hotels in Miami, FL
The Real Deal reports that the venture was delayed because of the Miami Beach Board’s concerns. The committee is hesitant to redevelop the area due to budgeting issues, as well as concerns that Miami Beach will become “another Sunny Isles.” Hopefully, a decision will be reached by August 17, 2021.
The project’s location is listed as 1751 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL, 3313––although some sources notes the project to have multiple addresses. It will be located in Miami-Dade County.
