Miami’s Jungle Island (formerly known as “Parrot Jungle Island”) closed its doors in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, plant and animal lovers will be pleased to know that the attraction will reopen its doors in January 2022. But that’s not all: plans are also in the works for a 300-room hotel, named “Jungle Island Hotel.”
Per the Construction Journal, the $300 million project will commence construction after the main attraction has already reopened. The six-story hotel will comprise almost 350,000 square feet of new construction, and it will be located just four minutes away from Jungle Island itself. The hotel also features a garage park that’s five stories below level.
Right now, developers are designing the hotel’s interior and exterior. Ideally, it will be conservation-themed, which is one of the big things that Jungle Island advocates. The roof of the hotel itself will serve as an outdoor garden, furthering the park’s vision.
According to the Real Deal, Jungle Island Hotel has been in the making for a few years now. While Jungle Island is currently closed to the public, the attraction has a lease until 2099. The hotel is just one of the many additions that developers plan for the popular park.
Jungle Island Hotel’s location is listed as 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, FL, 33132. It will be located in Miami-Dade County.
