BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel is continuing construction in Pasco County, the Construction Journal reports. The venture will comprise over 315,000 square feet of new construction and will provide a suite of medical services.
It began construction in December 2020 and will ideally conclude in the first quarter of 2023. It’s owned by BayCare Health Systems, which has seven active projects in the private medical and heavy & highway sectors.
According to the venture’s website, the project’s expected to cost over $240 million to complete. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that the hospital got a historic $1.25 billion bond, most of which was used to pay other outstanding debts and obligations.
When BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel opens, it’ll provide 86 hospital beds and provide diagnostic services, rehabilitation programs, and an emergency department. It’s already created about 225 construction jobs and, when the project completes, it’ll employ 275 full-time employees.
HKS Architects, Inc. designed the venture. Other involved parties on the project include Mills & Associates Inc. (the consultant) and Robins & Morton Group (the general contractor). Both organizations are based in Florida.
The BayCare medical system is one of the biggest healthcare systems in the Tampa Bay area. It’s headquartered in Clearwater. The Construction Journal lists BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel’s address as 4501-4503 Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, Wesley Chapel, FL, 33544, in Pasco County.
