A massive multi-story indoor sports and recreational facility is being planned near Miami’s Dolphin Mall in the Doral neighborhood. Named Destination Sport Miami, the building will span nearly 1 million square feet – soon to become one of the largest sports facilities in North America. The project is being developed by a group of backers lead by Hockey Hall of Famer Bryan Trottier, who signed a land lease for 20-acres with Cimabian Group. Robert Andrus, president of Andrus Architecture, is named as the architect.

Destination Sport Miami is planned to feature various indoor spaces including 2 NHL-sized ice rinks, NFL-FIFA size artificial turf field, 18 NBA-sized basketball courts, 26 regulation volleyball courts, 11 regulation USTA hard surface tennis courts, a 20,000-square-foot E-Sports arena, a private indoor tennis club and long-course 50 meter Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 25-yard warm water therapy and teaching pool, surf machine, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and 26 locker rooms. There will also be a full service sports themed restaurant and grill, a deli with healthy food options, a Latin American-themed café, 16 party/event rooms, a full service retail/pro shop, over 300,000 square feet of flex office or event space and a dedicated floor for Sports Academy.

“We are looking forward to being part of Destination Sport Miami, an iconic and unique project that will have a significant positive impact on the South Florida community,” said Bernie Perez, executive VP of OHLA Building. “Our company has been in the construction industry for more than 25 years and we believe our qualifications along with our expertise, makes us the right fit for the success of this premiere, state-of-the-art sports facility.”

The interior lot is located behind Top Golf at 11850 Northwest 22nd Street and across the street from Telemundo Center at 1 Telemundo Way.

OHLA Building based in College Point, New York has been selected as the general contractor.
