Davie, FL, will soon be home to a new hotel called “University Hotel” because of its proximity to local colleges. The South Florida Business Journal reports that the hotel’s owner, BTH Development, hopes to start construction on the five-story hotel soon. The organization acquired the 2.12-acre lot for $4.3 million in 2020. The site was formerly home to a Farm Store.
The hotel will comprise 127 rooms and 88 parking spots––two of which are designated for electric vehicles (EVs). Developers want Hyatt House to serve as the hotel’s brand. Hyatt has over 900 locations worldwide. On-site amenities include a fitness center, lounge, swimming pool, bar, and conference room. The premises also features a small market.
The hotel features a pool deck and other on-site amenities.
FSMY Architects and Planners, the hotel’s designer, released conceptual renderings of the project online. These plans show a pool deck studded with pavilions and outdoor communal spaces. Additionally, each hotel room comes with windows overlooking the parking lot and surrounding area.
University Hotel will comprise over 78,000 square feet of new construction. The Construction Journal reports that the project is presently seeking site plan approvals, and Miller Construction Company is the general contractor.
The hotel is close to local colleges and the upcoming teaching hospital.
The hotel’s address is 6650 Nova Drive, Davie, FL, 33317, in Broward County. Nearby colleges include Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and Broward College.
