Two New Hotels Coming to Airport Road in Jacksonville, FL

The Florida-Times Union reported that in September 2021, Jacksonville’s tourism industry was “bouncing back.” With more and more people flocking to the region, many big-name hotel chains are investing in the area.

The Construction Journal reports that Duval County will soon be home to two new hotels: a Tru by Hilton and a TownePlace Suites. Both hotels will be built right across from each other and will undergo construction at the same time. The Construction Journal notes that the project will cost at least $16 million to complete. The venture’s owned by Lake City Hotels, Inc.

The developer acquired the four-acre site in 2019.

The Jacksonville Daily Record reports that the Tru by Hilton will measure five stories above grade and require 53,961 square feet of new construction. It features 105 rooms and will cost $7.7 million to build.

The TownePlace Suites will also measure five stories and feature 102 rooms. It requires over 63,000 square feet of new construction and will cost $8.39 million. The developer purchased the 4-acre plot in 2019 for $2.85 million. The project requires demolishing a now-defunct Wendy’s.

The venture will replace a now-closed Wendy’s.

Harter-Adams, PA Architects and Planners is the project’s architect. The Construction Journal notes that the project’s currently in its “bidding” stage.

The Tru by Hilton’s address is 1265 Airport Road, and the TownePlace Suites’ address is 1287 Airport Road. Both are located in Jacksonville, FL, in Duval County.
