MMI Development hopes to move forward with a $105 million residential venture in Sarasota County. Progress at University could comprise five four-story buildings, offering 280 multi-family units on a 16.57-acre lot. Records from Sarasota County report that the proposed build site formerly served as overflow parking for the now-defunct greyhound racing stadium. There are no existing structures on the build site, so the venture would not require demolition.
Sources note that the developer has submitted all required paperwork to request approval. If approved, it hopes to start construction before the first quarter of 2023––although this is subject to change. Right now, the venture’s presently in its conceptual design stage. Information about a general contractor or architect doesn’t appear to be publicly available.
Progress at University isn’t the only project MMI Developers has in the pipeline right now. The Orlando-based firm presently has four active projects––including Progress at University. One of its ventures, Summer House at Lake Apopka, is presently undergoing construction in Orange County. The $50.9 million residential venture is scheduled to end construction in late 2022.
Progress at University’s proposed address is 1400 Desoto Road, Sarasota, Florida, 34234, in Sarasota County. It’s east of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
