Construction started on Biscayne House in Spring 2022, a 12-story venture that will offer 75 “micro-units.” Of those 12 stories, the first four are set aside for a parking garage. The remaining eight stories will comprise homes measuring 369 square feet to 547 square feet each. Many units come with balconies overlooking the greater Miami-Dade County area. Features include above-ground parking and hurricane-grade windows.
The Next Miami reports that homes are set aside for those making less than 50 percent of the area median income, which hovers around $44,000 a year. The goal is to provide accessible housing to those living in Miami-Dade County. In a March 2022 report from CBS News, about 54 percent of residents are struggling to find affordable housing in a post-Covid housing market.
Before construction, the build site measured 11,000 square feet. After construction ends, Biscayne House will offer more than 88,000 square feet of new construction. Glavovic Studio designed the venture and shared conceptual renderings across multiple media outlets. Renderings show a high-rise building in the Miami Modern (MiMo) architectural style.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation of Los Angeles is the developer. The organization, which provides healthcare to more than 1.7 million people, has fully financed the project. It will not discriminate against tenants based on their healthcare status, sexuality, race, or gender identity.
Biscayne House’s address is 237 Northeast 24th Street, Miami, Florida, 33137, in Miami-Dade County.
