A September 23 filing with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reveals building permit applications for two 685-foot-tall buildings. Located along the eastern frontage of Southwest 2nd Avenue between Southwest 8th and 9th Streets in Brickell, the structures would rise 699 feet above sea level and occupy the western third of the city block. The property is owned by Millennium Developments of Brickell LLC, an affiliate of the prominent Coto Family of Argentina and Aston Martin Residences developer G&G Business Developments, spanning nearly 0.93 acres, including four parcels of land addressed as 161 and 195 Southwest 9th Street and 190 Southwest 8th Street.
The northern lot is currently improved with a Mobil gas station. The southern lots are vacant. To the east at 144 Southwest 8th Street is West Brickell View, a 16-story residential tower completed in 2014. The Underline is across the street from the eastern side of the block, and the Metromover Brickell Station is two blocks away.
YIMBY laid out the coordinates from all of the filings to map out the overall footprint of the proposed structures and where their highest points would be. Considering each point is proposed to reach 685 feet, the buildings will likely be comprised of four elevations culminating with generally flat rooftops. Otherwise, there would be a variation between each height point. FAA filings list the buildings as North Tower and South Tower, further confirming that there are, in fact, two structures in the works.
No renderings, site plans, or preliminary details are available, nor has the property owner/developer made announcements for the two-towered project.
