The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved and issued building permits to developer JDS Development Group (JDS) for 888, a 1,049-foot supertall mixed-use skyscraper planned for 888 Brickell Avenue in the heart of Miami’s Brickell financial district. Designed by Studio Sofield with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record, the 81-story tower is expected to yield 1,178,568 square feet of new space, including 259 residential units, 52,144 square feet of health/fitness, 38,727 square feet of food and beverage, and 273 parking spaces operated by a valet.

JDS, the developer behind Brooklyn’s first supertall skyscraper, the 93-story Brooklyn Tower – has been given the green light to erect a supertall structure at the 22,568-square-foot site. 888 is approved to rise 1,042 feet, or 1,049 feet above sea level. The property is on the north side of Southeast 10th Street, immediately east of Brickell Avenue and a half block away from the Tenth Street Metromover Station. The FAA issued approval on December 9.

  1. The uncut portions of stone on the podium are absolutely gorgeous! The podium over all is wonderful. The crown is also wild! I love it.

  2. Exciting. This will be a stunning addition to their skyline.

Question – How many supertalls have been approved and have permits in Miami?
