Mixed-Use Development Headed for 3200 First Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida

YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg has big plans for a mixed-use development centered around the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA campus. According to St. Pete Rising, the $96 million venture will offer both residential and retail developments on a build site measuring just over 11 acres.

The development’s east side will offer homes and retail, while the west side could offer affordable housing options and healthcare facilities. In January 2023, the YMCA partnered with Eastman Equity, which is based locally in the area.

The venture’s located in St. Petersburg.

David Jezek, the president of YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that the redevelopment will give the area a “facelift,” noting that 20 years ago, the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA campus was a catalyst for development in the area.

Sources note that, right now, the venture’s in its design-development phase, with construction possible in June 2023. Developers have not officially confirmed this start date. Place Architecture is the architect.

The venture will build on the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA campus.

George F. Young Inc. is the civil engineer, and Kast Construction was named as the general contractor. Greystar––Orlando is acting as the owner’s representative and project manager.

The YMCA redevelopment project is located on the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA campus. Its address is 3200 First Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33712, in Pinellas County.
