Leading global architecture, design, and planning firm HLW has revealed its expansion into Florida by opening a new office in West Palm Beach. The new office will enable the firm to strengthen client relationships and establish new connections across the Southeast. This development builds upon HLW’s 11-year presence in the state, including Univision, PGA Tour, Piper Sandler, and Subway projects.
Ed Shim, Principal, and Managing Director of HLW’s New York office, stated that the firm had been committed to promoting positive change, social responsibility, and sustainability for over a century. Expanding into Florida is a promising opportunity to continue building on this legacy.
Situated at 222 Lakeview Avenue in West Palm Beach, the Florida office will be headed by Robert Thomas, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, Principal, and Director of Science and Technology. Thomas has nearly 40 years of experience in the Florida market, specializing in advanced science, laboratory, and research facilities. He will focus on enhancing HLW’s next-generation research facilities portfolio and exploring opportunities in hospitality, residential, civic/cultural, commercial interiors, and broadcast and entertainment sectors.
Thomas expressed his excitement about leading HLW’s expansion in the fast-growing South Florida market.
HLW’s full range of services will be offered to clients in Florida alongside the firm’s specialty business partners: BEYOND, a sustainability consultancy; brandx, HLW’s branding and graphics group; SPARK, the lighting design studio; and ARK, an independent strategic consulting studio.
To accommodate its current workload, the Florida team plans to expand and introduce an internship program for students from nearby universities in the coming months.
