The Bradenton Area Convention Center (formerly known as the Manatee Civic Center) is getting a $48 million expansion.
Constructed in 1985, the addition calls for 14,000 square feet of new construction which will serve as a ballroom. The expansion is flexible. It can accommodate up to 900 seats, or it can be divided into two separate conference rooms.
According to Manatee County’s website, plans also call for two outdoor event spaces, and the already-existing exhibit hall will be repainted. It notes that: Driftwood, the turquoise waters, sugar-sand beaches of the gulf and boating are reflected in the [project’s] textures and colors.”
The renovation is presently underway, with completion slated for the second quarter of 2025. It’s not the only project unfolding, however. The Bradenton Area Convention Center is connected to a 252-room upscale Marriot hotel.
Marriott Palmetto Resort & Spa will open in spring of this year, offering a swimming pool, beach club, outdoor event space, and VIP rooftop bar and lounge. If all goes according to plan, both the hotel and convention center will generate at least $25 million in revenue for the community.
The Bradenton Area Convention Center is located at 1 Haben Road, Palmetto, FL, 34221, in Manatee County. The convention center will continue operations throughout construction
