A South Florida developer has purchased 4.27 acres, which could be developed into Boynton Beach’s first complex under the Live Local Act. The Dune apartments would feature 336 residential units in an eight-story building. Of those units, 36 would be townhomes, and the rest apartments.
The South Florida Business Journal reports that 60 percent of the units (201) would be designated at workforce housing, aimed at offering accessible housing to middle-income families making 120 percent of the area median income.
Aside from the 336 units, the Dune apartments would offer 2,600 square feet of ground floor commercial space. Jeffery Burns, the CEO of developer Affiliated Development, “envisions fitness-oriented tenants” in the commercial space. Affiliated Development’s in-house architects designed the community.
As of February 2024, developers were seeking building permits to move forward with the project’s construction. From there, construction could start within four to six months. Prior to groundbreaking, the general contractor could have to demolish a 19,876-square-foot retail building that was constructed in 1984.
The Dunes apartments isn’t the only project in Affiliated Development’s pipeline. It’s also working on the Pierce, a development that Florida YIMBY reported on in 2021—although the project’s size, details, and scope have since changed.
The Dunes apartments could soon unfold at 2755 S. Federal Highway, Boynton Beach, Florida, 33435, in Palm Beach County.
